Weekly Recap #93: Week of 2/24 – 3/2

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I can’t believe what a couch potato I’ve been all weekend, but it really was all about the “Netflix and Chill” for me.  I finished watching the final season of Kimmy Schmidt and then started binging The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.  At first I couldn’t stand the Sabrina show, mainly because I’m so used to the fun and quirky Sabrina the Teenage Witch show that I used to watch all the time.  The new show reminds me more of Charmed than anything else, but I liked that show too so the Netflix show gradually won me over. I expect I’ll finish the first season today.

I think part of my need to just have a lazy weekend is because it’s busy season at work and we were severely short-staffed this week.  We’re supposed to be a team of 6, but recently had two people transfer because they didn’t want to do the kind of work we do anymore but didn’t want to leave the firm, and then we had another from what’s left of our team out on vacation.  That left three of us to cover the work for ten offices.  We got through the week but it involved rarely leaving my desk at work and then logging in from home almost every night to keep the jobs moving forward.

Somehow, even with work and the crazy soccer schedule, I still managed to get a decent amount of reading done this week. I finished You Asked for Perfect by LJ Silverman, which I thought was fantastic, and I also finished What’s If It’s Us, which I thought was super cute. I’ll be posting reviews for Desperate Paths, You Asked for Perfect, and possibly Daisy Jones and the Six (which I’m currently reading) this week.

Random blog thoughts:  I’m not sure if I’m going to write reviews for all of the backlist books I’m reading this year since I’ve set my backlist reading goal so high. I do think I’m going to try to at least do bookstagram posts with some bullet points of what I liked for some of the books I don’t review on my blog.  I don’t know, just an idea I’ve been toying around with as I’m watching the list of unreviewed backlist books I’ve read in 2019 grow. I may change my mind but we’ll see…

I think that’s about it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Sometimes it’s good to be busy at work, because it makes the days go faster, but being overwhelmed and having to do lots of other people’s work is not fun! I definitely don’t write reviews for every backlist book I read, since most of what I read is backlist! Too much writing, haha!

Ha Suzanne I am a couch potato too on the weekends as I had a very intense work month so I completely undrestand! And I am not a soccer mom! I hope that you’ll get help at work soon enough.

I’m sorry things have been a little hectic at work, at least these kind of days go by faster, that’s something to be happy about? 🙂 On the bright side, you’ve read some great books, yay! I loved You Asked For Perfect so much and also found What If It’s Us adorable 🙂
    I hope you’ll have a fantastic week <3 <3

Hopefully things will improve at work each week. At least you got to the reading! Some of my backlist books or library books ( which also tend to be backlist books) I am only reviewing with a few sentences on Goodreads rather than a whole blog post. My blog posts update Goodreads automatically, so I update Goodreads with everything.

    Wishing you a better week!

I think an Instagram post for the backlist books you enjoyed is a great idea. I personally don’t feature every book I read, but they get reviewed on GR and linked back to on my Sunday Post. Unless I thought it was so good I have to ask about it on the blog.

Sounds like your chill weekend was much deserved given all you have had to deal with at work. I know all too well how challenging it can be when you are short staffed. I hope you are enjoying your current books. Sky Without Stars and Circe are high on my wish list. I hope you have a great week, Suzanne!

I keep hearing lots of positive stuff about Daisy Jones and the Six. And ooh I’m so glad to hear You Owe Me A Murder was good! I might read that one next. 🙂

Gosh how cute is the cover for There’s Something about Sweetie! And Suzanne, after the week you’ve had, I think you sincerely deserve a weekend of Netflix and Chill! What did you think of the Sabrina show in the end? PS — haven’t yet watched the Christmas special though.

I’m still torn about Sabrina. I liked it overall but there was also a part of me that just thinking about the fun and quirky version and that I would have been more in the mood to watch that instead, lol.

Sounds like you needed the weekend to just chill out after such a busy week. I’ll be interested to see your review of Daisy Jones. I am so excited for that one. I think I’m #1 on the reserve list at the library so hopefully it’ll be in my hands in the next few days.

I’ve been thinking about trying The Umbrella Academy too. I’m watching Riverdale now and really like that one too.

I keep hearing about Sky without Stars all the time! I need to find it on Goodreads and do some research on it 🙂
