Weekly Recap #66: Week of 8/12 – 8/18

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

This week was all about my son’s first week of middle school.  I’m happy to report that he’s off to a great start, no drama at all aside from trying to get his sleep pattern back on track for those early morning wakeups.  He’s not quite there yet, but hopefully another week and he’ll be back into the swing of things.

Although he didn’t have any drama, I sure did!  My desktop computer decided that this week would a great time to randomly kick the bucket.  It got stuck in some weird ‘Automatic Repair’ loop and I couldn’t get it to boot up at all.  I took it to Geek Squad and several days later, they were able to fix it.  And by fix it, I mean wipe the hard drive and reinstall the entire operating system.  Thankfully they were able to backup all of my files, but I lost all of my software and spent most of the week trying to find where I had stored all of that so I could get everything reinstalled.  One thing I learned throughout this experience is that my old eyes and fat fingers are very dependent on a large keyboard and a huge monitor.  I was glad that I had a laptop I could switch over to while waiting for my desktop to be fixed so that I didn’t fall too behind on all of my blogging, etc., but OMG, it took me so much longer to do everything!  I felt like I had never used a computer before, lol.

Aside from my computer woes, not too much else happened.  My son and I are going to see Ant Man and the Wasp today so hopefully that will be a fun time.  🙂

Oh well, I think that’s it for me. I hope everyone else has a great week!

They really are the worst! I think I finally have everything reinstalled but I can’t even remember everything that was on there, so who knows, lol.

Old eyes and fat fingers ? Bwahahaha. Ok not laughing as I dread having problems with my computer. Now Mirage is already pre ordered and I can’t wait to read your review for The Kiss Quotient. happy Sunday.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. My laptop was going out of whack which was terrifying! The moment taught me to ALWAYS back up my files haha I’ve heard really good things about Mirage! Happy reading! Sending good vibes for you and your son <3

My condolences on the computer. Waking up after summer vacation was never easy, but at least the rest of the transition is going well.

Yes, I’m so grateful that he seems to be off to a good start. I always worry since he’s a little younger than most of his classmates.

I am sorry about your computer woes. I am still hanging on to mine, trying to eek out as much as I can from it before it no longer functions. Yay for good first weeks of school! I’m just glad my daughter won’t start on the homework for another couple weeks. LOL What did you think of Ant Man and the Wasp? I would like to see that, but I’m not sure when. I had been hoping we could go to the movies this weekend, but it didn’t work out. Cat Woman sure looks good. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week, Suzanne!

I absolutely loved Ant Man and the Wasp. It was, by far, the funniest Marvel film I’ve ever watched. The action was great too, but the humor was my favorite part.

I’m glad that middle school is drama-free so far. Sorry about the computer. I have a giant laptop and a tiny laptop, and I much prefer the giant one. Everything is easier on it. Have a great week!

I’m glad to hear your son is having a good start! And ugh, computer problems are the worst. I am so reliant on using a mouse–I am ridiculously slow at using a track pad on laptops, haha. Glad it’s all fixed, though! I am really excited to see your thoughts on Foundryside and Mirage! I’ve been meaning to pick up The Song of Achilles sometime soon, as well. Have a great week!

Oh I hope AntMan and the Wasp pwas good. I still need to see it! And sorry about the computer woes. I hate working on a laptop, which makes me feel like a complete dinosaur, but they are just not my thing. Give me my desktop and big monitor ANY day lol.

    Catwoman looks fun. 🙂

Yeah, that was so annoying. Thankfully I think I have everything put back the way it was now.. Hopefully it won’t break again anytime soon, lol.

Great news about school starting without a hitch, but what a pain with the pc issues. Going through the reinstall of all your software sounds like a grand ol’ time. Ugh. That cover of Sold on a Monday is heartbreaking. 🙁

I’m delighted that your son has started so well at school. And boo for your computer suddenly falling over! I had it when that happens… I hope the coming week is less technically eventful.

Yay for a great first week of middle school! I hope the second week is going just as well.

Sorry about your computer though. That sucks.

Oh, I really need to catch up on these Marvel movies! Yikes. Did you enjoy Ant Man and the Wasp?

I’m currently reading Catwoman now and enjoying it! I hope you’ll like it too!
