Weekly Recap #64: Week of 7/29 – 8/4

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

As you can tell by how many reviews I have coming up, it was another great reading week for me but unfortunately a not-so-great writing one.  Apparently I’m a mood reader AND a mood writer, and I just didn’t feel like writing much of anything last week.  Thankfully I have a couple of days off from work this week and I plan to use those to get completely caught up on those reviews before I forget everything about every book I’ve read the past couple of weeks, lol.

Not too much else has been going on.  As I mentioned last weekend, I did finally sign up for an Instagram account for my blog.  I’m still trying to decide how much I’m going to use it, but I did do a couple of posts and have started following my fellow bloggers.  I’m still figuring out who has an account and who doesn’t so if I haven’t followed you yet, be sure to let me know your username so I can do that.  Here’s my account:  @thebookishlibra.

Off the blog, it was business as usual.  Aside from buying school supplies for my son, the only other thing I can remember doing is watching the newest season of Orange is the New Black.  I have mixed feelings about what I watched.  On the one hand, I thought it ended on a very powerful note, but overall I thought the season got off to a weak  start and didn’t really improve until the last 2 or 3 episodes.  There were too many new characters that didn’t interest me, and several of my favorite characters didn’t even make an appearance.  Kind of reminded me of that last George R.R. Martin book I read, haha.

Oh well, I think that’s it for me. I hope everyone else has a great week! 🙂

I have so many reviews to write! I am definitely a mood writer. I am like 8 episodes into OITNB and it’s ok. I do miss some characters and not sure how I feel on the new ones. Should finish the season this week. Have a great week!

I hope you enjoy OITNB more than I did. I liked it overall but just wanted more, especially from those characters that were missing.

I’m trying to finish up the Summer TBR Wipeout while attempting to write reviews for some other books I’ve read in between. My schedule has been thrown so far off, so reading and writing has fallen by the wayside a bit! But hopefully I’ll get caught up soon. Enjoy your reading and reviewing this week!

I think the readathon has my schedule all out of whack. I’m excited to have gotten so many books read this summer, but I’ll be much more excited once I’m caught up on all of these reviews, haha.

He starts 6th grade next week!

OITNB was sooo good in those early seasons. It has kind of gone off the rails a bit the past two seasons. I stick with it because I adore the characters but I definitely miss those early episodes.

    Hi Suzanne,
I am a new reader of your blog. Vicious was one of my absolute favorites this year and I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it. Oh, and I really need to pick up Children of Blood and Bone. Maybe in my next library haul, I can see if it’s at the library yet. I am loving the variety in the book selections you feature on the blog. It’s something I really hope I can manage.
PS: good luck on back to school weeks that are coming up. My brother and sister work in after-school programs, which means that the excitement and nervousness are in our home too.

Oh I totally subscribe to your slogan – only in my case it’s housework hardly ever… I look forward to seeing what you make of How To Stop Time and Children of Blood and Bone – I hope you have a great week, Suzanne:)

LOL! I’m the same way about housework. I’m so glad that my son is old enough to pitch in and make that process a little more tolerable.

I have to write my reviews right away, otherwise they pile up and I get overwhelmed and then nothing gets done. After 17 years getting my daughter back to school, and 12 years getting myself back to school as a teacher, I can honestly tell you, I don’t miss it! I hope you are successful with your back to school endeavors though.

Thankfully it’s a bit easier now that my son is not hung up on getting certain cartoon/superheroes on all of his supplies. He didn’t even come shopping with me this time and I managed to breeze through and get almost everything without issue. The last couple of things I just ended up ordering from Amazon so I think we’re good to go 🙂

I know the feeling, if I go too long without writing a review I’m always afraid I’ll forget key elements or something. the stress we put ourselves under… 🙂

Courting Darkness looks good to me, I liked Grave Mercy but haven’t read any LaFever since!

Ha ha! Great random pic! I love that you’ve joined the Bookstagram community and as you may have noticed I’ve become a lot more active there than I have been on my blog as of late. I’m still trying to figure out a balance but I hope to achieve that by the end of the year. Vicious is supposed to be on my TBR this month so I hope that I will get to it this month! Can’t wait to see what you thought of it.

    Have an awesome week!

I can see how Bookstagram could become very addicting. I’m still in the experimenting phase, but I’m enjoying it so far.

I have a copy of Point as well and hope we both love it. I still love looking at school supplies even though I have no real reason to buy them. That doesn’t stop me though. I’ve been hearing good things about VOX.

I’m a mood reader too, and it’s been crime thrillers lately. I was a fan of OITNB and enjoyed the first two seasons then I felt it got weak after that. I didn’t enjoy last season, so I haven’t watched this new season yet, I don’t think I will.
Enjoy Instagram, it’s fun. I have one but mine is a mix of everything @_naid_m And enjoy your days off!
