Weekly Recap #62: Week of 7/15 – 7/21

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Not much to report here this week. It’s one of those ‘I don’t even remember what I did this week so it couldn’t have been too exciting’ kind of weeks, haha.  Just work, work, and more work, with the only break in work being to take off from work to run my son over to his middle school orientation.  Still can’t believe I’m about to have a middle schooler on my hands!

As soon as the weekend hit, we were inundated with pouring rain, which according to the forecast is supposed to stay with us through at least August 4th 🙁 , so aside from driving an hour in it yesterday to meet my dad and stepmom for lunch because I haven’t seen them in 6 months, my weekend will be spent in the house staying dry.

As you can see from my Upcoming Reviews list below, I’m also way behind on posting reviews. I’m actually behind on writing them honestly. I’m not sure what happened there, but today will be a writing catch up day so I should finally knock a few books off that list.

I wasn’t a total blog slacker this week though.  I posted my first Summer TBR Wipeout challenge recap where you can see that I’ve read 6 books out of the goal of 15 I had set for myself.  So definitely lots of reading going on.  Participating in the Summer TBR Wipeout also moved along my Beat the Backlist Challenge, so I’m up to 22 out of my goal of 30 backlisted books for the year. I also posted my first discussion post in a while where I talked about how my reading tastes have changed over the years.  Once I get semi caught up on my reviews, I should have another discussion post coming along to get myself back on track for the discussion challenge I’m taking part in.

I think that’s it for me. I hope everyone else has a great week! 🙂

We are supposed to get a lot of rain over the next week or so, too, so I envision a lot of time inside reading!

I’m with you for sure! I don’t mind looking at the rain from my window, but I sure as heck don’t want to drive in it! So like you, most of the time I’ll be indoors here while we go through our rain thing here in NC. Such a great mix of books! Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO

I’m really behind with reading too. July is typically “vacation” month as I always seem to have weekend trips planned-which kills my blogging/reading schedule! Luckily next weekend my husband and kids are going on a trip so I’ll have the house to myself. Bliss😊

Ahhhh, alone time is the best. My husband keeps talking about taking my son away for a father/son weekend, and I’m just sitting here like “Yes, please! Go!” LOL!

Oh… I hope the promised rain doesn’t occur. We were supposed to have torrential rain about the time we were due to pick up my granddaughter from Brighton but there wasn’t so much as a drop – hopefully you’ll have the same forecaster! Have a great week and enjoy the reading:)

That would be fabulous. It’s pouring right now but based on the radar, it might clear up after this one big storm cell rolls through. Fingers crossed!

Middle school orientation! Good luck with the transition. I have been reading plenty too, but now I am have three reviews to write. Today is the day! I am trying to get psyched to write these reviews. One for a book I LOVED, so that should be easy, but the other two will be more challenging. I liked them, but didn’t love them. The Kiss Quotient is my favorite romance read so far this year. I will so taken by this book. I hope you like it.

I’m with you. I find those ‘liked but didn’t love’ reviews are the most challenging ones to write. I want to point out the issues I had but at the same time don’t want to scare others away from trying the book.

I’ve been slacking with my blog too. I keep saying I’m going to sit down and do stuff but then it seems like something else pops up that needs my attention. I absolutely loved the Kiss Quotient. I hope you enjoy it.

I’m mostly caught up on book reviews, but I have to actually schedule them. And I have a variety of discussion and other types of posts that I really want to write, but I need to find time/energy to work on those. LOL I really need to schedule ahead – I do so much better when I do that, but I’ve been going day after day lately.

I really enjoyed Dread Nation and did it as a buddy read with a friend who doesn’t read horror. It was horror-lite so it worked for her. We’ve had some rain here this weekend but we really needed it. I ADORED The Mermaid and hope you are enjoying it too.

It’s supposed to be rainy here too. At last it will be 80s instead of 90s but more humid. I hope you get some more reading in this week. Anne – Books of My Heart

We’ve had rain too which has cooled things off a bit (but only a bit- it’s still muggy).

Looking forward to your Feast for crows review.

    Have a great week!

Are you ready for Middle School dances??? It’s been gloomy by me and kind of chilly. It feels like October!

Dread Nation is soo good! Super sassy and has great commentary!

I just finished The Kiss Quotient and I’m still swooning!

I’m so totally NOT ready for middle school dances, haha! Dread Nation and The Kiss Quotient are two books that I can’t wait to get to. I’ve heard nothing but great things about both of them 🙂
