Weekly Recap #61: Week of 7/8 – 7/14

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

This past week was mainly just the same old, same old — work, continuing with home improvement projects, and getting outside as much as possible to enjoy the great summer weather we’ve been having.  I’m still binge watching Felicity. I’m about halfway through season 2, which is the season where she chopped off all of her hair.  I still remember watching that for the first time and seeing all of the entertainment news magazines and shows go nuts.  Who knew a haircut could cause so much drama? LOL.

I did take one vacation day this week and took my son to Water Country USA water park in Williamsburg.  Neither of us had ever been there before so it was a nice treat for us both.  It’s a little expensive, especially if you add in the Quick Queue option that allows you to skip the lines, but I hate waiting in long lines so it was worth it.  We both had an amazing time and had nearly perfect weather for it too.  It was just warm and sunny enough to be a beautiful day, but not so hot and scorching that either of us ended up with sunburn.  My son, who can sometimes be a little timid about rides, actually rode every ride in the park, even those huge terrifying drop slides that I can’t even look at, much less ride, lol.  I rode everything except for those and it was just an all around nice mom/son day.  It was also just nice to be completely unplugged from my phone and computer for the day since I couldn’t even carry my phone around at the park for fear of losing it or getting it completely waterlogged.

I had a great reading week as well, finishing up A Feast for Crows, the last book in the Grishaverse trilogy, as well as an ARC of Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win.  Reviews for all three of these will be up on the blog this week, as well as my first update for the Summer TBR Wipeout Challenge so I can see how I’m doing on that.  A couple of library books that became available sooner than I expected has shuffled my TBR for that challenge a little, but I’m still hoping to knock 15 books off my list before all is said and done.

I think that’s it for me. I hope everyone else has a great week! 🙂

I had truly forgotten how obsessed I was with that show when it first aired. I want to watch The Americans next since Keri Russell is in that one too.

I enjoy In a Dark Dark Wood…and have read all of Ware’s books since then until now…I’ll be starting with the newest one this week (The Death of Mrs. Westaway).

I LOVED Believe Me, and I’m sure it will make my Top Favorites list for the year. Enjoy your week…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

The haircut season was almost the last for Felicity. I remember all the backlash and drama. I loved that show, and actually own it on DVD.

Glad you had a great time with your sun. I would love to go on the great big slides but I am just to chicken. I remember her chopping off her hair too. =) Have a great week!

Yay! I’m glad your son had fun at the water park. I used to love them as a kid, but now I like the slow pace of a lake or pool. LoL
I’ve actually been binge watching The Good Place with Kristen Bell. I randomly came across it on Netflix and figured I’d give it a shot. I’m not addicted to it. LoL

The Good Place is such a funny show. I just watched season 1 on Netflix not too long ago and it just got better and better with each episode.

Ack, I once lost a phone on an amusement park ride that had us upside down at times. Luckily it was found at the base of the ride that we could easily access. So, I agree – avoid taking phones on rides. Happy reading.

My daughter and I went to Williamsburg for the first time in June. We didn’t go to Water Country or Busch Gardens or any big attraction but just got the feel for the town. It was fun. We plan to go back in October and spend a day at Busch Gardens. Enjoy your books! Anne – Books of My Heart

HAH! Love the “abs” meme. Too funny. Your mother/son day sounds like it was a lot of fun. That’s great your son went on all the rides too!!

Aww sounds like you had a great visit to the waterpark! How fun. Sometimes it’s nice doing those things during the week too, since so many people go on weekends… and yay for Feast for Crows! Looking forward to your thoughts on that since it’s often a slightly more contentious book than the others, due to the split up POV’s.

Believe Me looks like it might be good!

Yeah, I enjoyed A Feast for Crows overall but was definitely disappointed that almost all of my favorite characters were absent from it.

Oh how fun!! I’m so glad to hear you guys had good weather for the water park! The last time I went to a water park, it ended up raining… which was fun for a minute, but then it was just a drag. Have a great week!

What a lovely idea for a mother/son outing – especially at this time of year and I’m glad you both had such a great time together:). I need to get hold of a Leigh Bardugo book – that cover is amazing. I hope the coming week is a good one, Suzanne.
