Can’t Wait Wednesday – SHADOW OF THE FOX by Julie Kagawa

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about.  It is a meme that I have  loved participating in for over a year now, but as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll just be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

My selection for this week is Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa. I have actually never read one of Julie Kagawa’s books before, but I always hear such wonderful things about them.  When I saw that this one features shapeshifters, dragons, and Japanese folklore, it immediately became a most anticipated read for me. It sounds so exciting!

SHADOW OF THE FOX by Julie Kagawa

Publication Date:  October 2, 2018

From Goodreads:

Once Every Thousand Years…

Every millennium, one age ends and another age dawns…and whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers holds the power to call the great Kami Dragon from the sea and ask for any one wish. The time is near…and the missing pieces of the scroll will be sought throughout the land of Iwagoto. The holder of the first piece is a humble, unknown peasant girl with a dangerous secret.

Demons have burned the temple Yumeko was raised in to the ground, killing everyone within, including the master who trained her to both use and hide her kitsune shapeshifting powers. Yumeko escapes with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll. Fate thrusts her into the path of a mysterious samurai, Kage Tatsumi of the Shadow Clan. Yumeko knows he seeks what she has…and is under orders to kill anything and anyone who stands between him and the scroll.

A wish will be granted and a new age will dawn.

I hope I’ll get approved but I have a feeling I put in my request too late. I’m sure this one will be super popular.

I love shapeshifters and dragons, so this sounds like a total win. Plus the premise in general, and Japanese mythology. Killer cover too. I probably need to add this one. 🙂

I LOVE Julie Kagawa! Her Iron Fey series is one of my all-time favorites. I also like her vampire series that I started but never finished–need to do that! I’ve only recently started Talon, but am REALLY looking forward to Shadow of the Fox. <3

I actually managed to snag an ARC of this one and while I haven’t had stellar luck with Kagawa’s books so far, I’m super excited for this one because… Japanese mythology, shapeshifters and DRAGONS! I can’t wait to start this one.. Just need to get a couple of other ARCs out of the way first though… But at least I’m excited for them too!

I can’t wait to see what you think of it. I had requested an ARC but haven’t heard anything on my request yet. I think I was probably too late since it’s sure to be a popular book.

OMG I have so many of her books/series but have yet to start any of them. Horrible book nerd that I am but they look so good I buy and then get caught up with others before I get to them. But this…this makes me want to dive in sooner because this cover!

I know the feeling. I always get distracted by shiny new books and forget about the ones already on my shelf, lol.

OMG! This book sounds incredible! I have a few of Kagawa’s books on my shelf, but I haven’t read them yet. I am here for anything Japanese folklore related, so I will definitely be adding this one as well. 🙂
