Weekly Recap #51: Week of 4/29 – 5/5

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’ve had a major case of Spring Fever all this week now that we have finally gotten some warm weather and the flowers are starting to bloom.  We pulled out and dusted off our deck furniture this week and now I’m just so ready to start spending more time outside.  I actually put on shorts for the first time this year today and promptly realized — when I could barely get my ass into them — that it’s also time for me to get out there and exercise more again.  I had been so good last fall about walking everyday and even jogging a few times here and there, but then I wimped out as soon as it got cold and haven’t done much of anything since.  I learned this week that even though I always say audiobooks aren’t a good fit for me, I actually do enjoy listening to them while I walk so yay for reading and exercising at the same time.  Multitasking at its best! 🙂

Speaking of reading, I’ve been in one of those moods where I just want to read books and not write any reviews.  Great for my reading week, not so great since I now need to hurry up and write 5 reviews before I forget everything about every book I read.  Why do I do this to myself?  My goal is to get caught up this week, but I’m not making any promises, especially since I just checked out Leah on the Offbeat from the library today, which immediately put every other book I planned to read on the back burner.  I can’t wait to dive in, which I’m going to do as soon as I finish working on this post!

On that note, I think that’s about it for me.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Right? I actually made myself go to the gym today and it was such a struggle, lol. The audiobooks do help though, especially the YA contemporaries.

lol I have had Spring fever too…I can’t help it. I even went jogging this past week and visited the Botanical Gardens in NYC yesterday. The warmer temps are great. I’m backed up on book reviews myself. Have a great week and happy reading. 🙂

Oh wow, jogging? That’s so great. I’ve always wanted to start jogging but I seem to always wimp out after a couple of tries, lol.

I think the arrival of spring is good for giving many of us a kick up the backside to get moving a bit more; myself included! Great to hear you’ve been enjoying some lovely spring weather. I no longer review all the books I read, but having previously done so I know how hard it can be when playing catch up – I hope you’re able to still enjoy your books whilst also getting the reviewing mojo back. I’m interested in the new Riley Sager; enjoy. Lastly, I’ve seen that ending quote on Pinterest a few times & just love it.

A wonderful week to you; bookish & otherwise.

Thanks, once I get going, I don’t think it will be too hard to catch up. All of the books I need to review aren’t ARCs so I’ll probably just do mini reviews to make it a bit easier on myself.

Hope you have a great week as well 🙂

ooooh! I’m excited about Leah on the Beat! I hope it’s good!
I feel like the last two months I’ve been in the mood to read but not write. So now I have to play catch up! whoops!
    Have a great week!

I’m glad it’s only been a couple of weeks for me. I can’t imagine how many books I’d be behind on reviewing if it lasted longer, lol. Hope you have a great week too!

I really need to dust off my Kindle fire and get organised with audiobooks! Perhaps it would inspire me to get cracking in the garden… Especially in the lovely weather we’ve been having. I hope you manage to catch up with your review – that sometimes happens to me, too!

Oh, that’s actually a great idea. I hadn’t even thought to listen to them while working outside. Hmmm, my Overdrive account might be about to get a workout.

Thanks, I made a little progress with my reviews today so I think I’m almost back on track. Until I start reading again anyway, lol.

I understand reading tons but then getting behind on book reviews. It’s easy to do! I THINK I only have two to review at the moment, but who knows? haha

LOL. It really is easy to do. Thankfully I made a little progress on them today so I’m only behind by 3 instead of 5.

I hate when reviews pile up. I already have a hard time writing reviews, and it’s worst when I try to write multiple reviews in a row. Good luck catching up! I am a fan of audiobooks. I finished my current audiobook and listened to a second one on my way to NC. It was a great way to pass the time.

Same here. Thankfully I made a little progress on them today so I’m only behind by 3 instead of the 5 I started the day with, lol.

I hadn’t had much luck with audiobooks in the past, but I’m hoping my recent luck will continue. The YA contemporaries seem to work best for me for some reason.

Lol why do we seem to “grow” during the winter ha ha? that’s not right. 🙂 Anyway hope Leah and the Offbeat is good- I keep seeing positive things! And yay for nice weather!!

I was just thinking I need to dust off the patio furniture so we can start sitting outside in the evenings when the weather is most pleasant. I hope you are able to take walking back up again. I get most of my audiobook listening in while cleaning the house, but have been listening more to music as of late. I really need to get back to those audiobooks. I am behind in my review writing too and need to kick it up a notch. Hopefully I can get some done this week. I hope you enjoy your new books! All We Ever Wanted has caught my eye. Have a great week, Suzanne!

I’m really looking forward to All We Ever Wanted This will be my first read from Emily Giffin and I keep hearing such great things about her books.

The fruit trees are blooming here, and I’m so excited! It’ll probably snow again and kill everything, but I’m ready for spring. I do the same thing with reviews. I love reading, but writing reviews? Not so much. Have a great week!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

OMG, I really hope we’re done with snow at this point. If not, Mother Nature and I are going to have to have a serious talk, lol.

Spring! Ahh, so nice! We are headed into our colder months in the bottom half of the world here 😉

I’ve never tried audiobooks while exercising… I think I need to do that because I too struggle with audiobooks.

I often leave reviews for too long. Oops. I have a large number to write now since I wrote like NONE while I Was travelling for the past month! Yikes.

So happy to be catching up (again)!

Audiobooks while exercising (well, walking anyway) is working really well for me. So far I’ve only tried it with YA contemporaries though so no clue how it would work with other types of books.
