Weekly Recap #48: Week of 4/8 – 4/14

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

It has been yet another of those oh-so-exciting weeks where I worked six days and then sat around like a lump or else fell asleep the rest of the time.  Deadline is Tuesday though so yay, I’m almost at the finish line!

Aside from work, the main focus of my week has been soccer and my son’s science fair project.  My son’s new team got off to a great start with a 7-0 victory in their first game, but then sadly lost the second game 4-0.  I’m not even sure what happened to them in the second game but they didn’t even look like the same team.  I tend to be a pretty passionate soccer mom so that was pretty frustrating, especially since they only took one shot on goal the entire game.  I kept my cool though, lol (although once I ride herd on him to wrap up his science project today, my son will be outside practicing more and inside playing video games less from this point forward.).

Soccer loss aside, it was nice to be able to get outside and enjoy the warm weather and get a little sun.  It was in the 80’s here yesterday so within the span of a week, we’ve gone from snow on the ground to flip flop weather!  I’m really hoping the warm weather is here to stay because I’m dying to spend some quality reading time out on my deck.

I think that’s about it for me.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I had a soccer-mad son, too. And while I made as matches as I could – Sunday was the day when I also had to prep for the coming week at school, so I couldn’t always made the all-day tournaments, but I do recall the cloud of misery that followed us home when his team lost… I hope your deadline means that you can take it a bit easier this coming week, Suzanne!

Cloud of misery is a good way to describe it, lol. We had another game last night and it was a hard fought tie-game so we came home much happier this time.

That’s good your work deadline is in sight and hopefully things wind down. We got into the 80’s yesterday here too but today we are back in the 50’s. Enjoy your books and the soccer games too!

From snow to temps in the 80’s? Now that’s quite a turn-around. Science fairs… ugh. I do not miss those at all. LOL I’ll be looking forward to your review of Sky in the Deep. Not sure it’s one I would enjoy, but I’d like to read some trusted reviews before I make up my mind. I have Meet Cute sitting on my shelf but still haven’t picked it up yet. Love your random – that pic is hilarious. 🙂

Yes the weather has been wild here. I really hope the warm temps stick around. Lol, I can’t say that I enjoyed the science fair much either. I was so happy when we dropped off his project at school today just to know that it’s over, at least on my end.

Aww, that’s sad. I hope my son plays for at least a few more seasons. I’d really miss the games if he stopped too.

I wish the weather would figure out what it wants. It’s been all over the place here. We have been having an almost 90* weekend and tomorrow it’s supposed to drop down into the low 60’s. I’m never sure if I need a tank top of a hoodie. LoL

The cover of The Fourth Monkey reminds me so much of The Girl in 6E cover. Great title, though!

Have a great week and happy reading!

I’m glad your deadline is so close! Only two more days, and then you won’t have to work so often. That has got to be super stressful, and I don’t know how you still manage to get books read! LOL I’d be sleeping the rest of the time, I’m sure.

I imagine I’ll be spending the next few days getting caught up on my sleep, for sure. Today is deadline day and I just got home and am already in my PJs at 6:30pm, lol.

I would love 80’s! And ha ha it does sound like you are a passionate soccer parent, but that’s okay! Isn’t it funny how they can dominate a game and then lose the next one so badly? Sadly it happens lol! Been there too. 🙂

I keep reading reviews for Sky in the Deep but haven’t gotten it yet. I’ll read yours too lol. But I am leaning towards it…

    Love that pic! So true…

It’s almost comical how radically different the team can be from one game to the next. They played again last night and it was a hard-fought 1-1 tie against the toughest team in their league, lol.

We had a similar weather experience here in the northeast. No snow, but it went from 31 degrees to 80s. Now it’s back in the low 40s. I just want a little spring. Wow! I hope you son’s science project turned out awesome and good luck on the next game.

Right? I’m really hoping that it doesn’t cool right back down here, especially since once I get through my tax deadline tomorrow, I just want to be outside as much as possible.

My husband has had a lot of those six day work weeks as of late and I’m sure he can relate. I am glad to hear you are nearing the end though! Congratulations to your son and the team on their first game! The second was probably just an anomaly. I am anxious to read your thoughts on The School for Psychics. I hope you have a great week, Suzanne! We ended up going to see a movie today (A Wrinkle in Time) and then running a few errands. So much for lounging in my pajamas all day. LOL

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Oh, I hope you enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time. I’ll probably wait until it comes out on DVD but I’d definitely love to see it.

Send over that 80 degree weather please? Last Monday it snowed, on Thursday it was 70s, and today it is 20 degrees and snowing. Bleh. And that’s an impressive start for your son’s soccer team! Maybe they just got a bit too cocky?

Also I’m curious about how you liked Sky in the Deep. I wrote my review on Sunday and it was pathetic.

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Wow, your weather really is all over the place! I wish I could send you some 80s. I still need to write my review for Sky in the Deep but I enjoyed it overall. I had a few issues with it but my review will be favorable for the most part. That’s one that people either seem to love or hate so I’ll have to check out your review and see what you thought.

haha glad to hear I’m not the only passionate soccer mom that gets totally frustrated by the way my kids team wins one game and then loses the other playing like a completely different team! My daughters this weekend was th opposite though. We blamed the 3-1 loss on the weather lol the first game was in the snow 30 degrees! So their coach asked to be brought indoors and VOILA they won 5-0!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

It is funny how they’re like completely different teams from one game to the next. After the 0-4 loss, they came back last night and played a hard-fought game against the toughest team in their league and finished in a 1-1 tie. They were fierce and I was just sitting there like ‘Where was this kind of play during the 0-4 game?” LOL!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Right? I think it does too. My son is usually pretty content with whatever the game’s outcome is as long as they get snacks and drinks afterwards, lol.
