Weekly Recap #47: Week of 4/1 – 4/7

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Another quick write up for me today because I have reviews to write or else I won’t have any posts going up this week, lol.  Thank goodness I’m entering my last 6-day work week of the year! I’ve decided I’m just too old to work that many days in a row.

Aside from work, not too much else happened, nothing that I can remember anyway.  I did celebrate my 2-year blogoversary though and am hosting a giveaway for a free book from The Book Depository.  It ends tonight so make sure to enter if you haven’t already.  There’s a link on the front page of my site.

I forgot to mention it in last week’s wrap up, but I did complete the Take Control of Your TBR Challenge in March.  I managed to get 10 pre-March 1 books off of my TBR, which I was very happy about.  The Belles, which I’m reviewing tomorrow on the blog, is the final book that I read for that challenge, so once that review posts, I’ll be back to reviewing the ARCs that I have coming up.  I apparently went request happy again on Netgalley because I have a bunch of April/May ARCs to get through. I don’t think I’ll be touching my backlist again until June.  Oops!

I think that’s it for me for now.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Yay for getting back to a normal work schedule! My sister will finally be ending tax season, so maybe I can see and talk to her again! Congrats on completing your March challenge!

Right? My mom works for a tax firm too and we haven’t seen each other since Christmas. I think we’ll both need a couple of days to crash and burn once the deadline gets here but then I’m looking forward to hanging out with her again.

Good for you tackling Mount TBR! I have only done backlist books through audiobooks. I need a break though and am happy I just got a hold from the library. I loved The Girl with the Red Balloon, but passed on the sequel as a review book, because I have too many commitments. I want to do some shelf love. So, I am practicing restraint. I am eager to hear what you think though, and will read the book after it’s released.

Thanks! I think I need to try audiobooks for my backlist too. I think I could move through them a bit faster that way.

Oooh I hope you enjoy Sky in the Deep (which I loved) and Girl Made of Stars! I didn’t like Everless, but maybe it’ll be a better read for you. Good luck getting through all your ARCs–hopefully you’ll even manage to squeeze in a backlist book or two. 🙂

Thanks! Yes, I’m thinking summer is going to be my best opportunity for working on my backlist. I thought I had my ARC requests under control but apparently not, lol.

I love Snoopy! I did the same thing with Netgalley and I have books up till June. I currently work 6 days a week and I don’t know when I’m going to stop but I am so tired. It wears on your body. I hope you have a great week!

It really does wear on your body. I’m so glad this is my last six-day week until next year because I don’t know how many more I could do.

That’s how a bookworm tackles down a TBR pile. Congrats on your progress! 🙂 How can someone resist requesting book on Netgalley? I know that I can’t.

I’m so excited for Sky in the Deep. It’s one of most anticipated releases of the year.

    Happy readings! 😉

Goodness me – 10 books off your TBR pile?? That is SO impressive… I haven’t yet sat down and looked at all my reading stats for March, but I know right now I haven’t achieved anything like that. Yes… I seem to have suddenly gone a bit mad on requests – but that’s because there are some fabulous books on the horizon that I want to get hold of! Glad you don’t have to work those killer 6-day weeks any more – it sounds exhausting. And I hope you enjoy this week a LOT more:)

There really are some great books coming out. I try to exercise some self control when it comes to requesting, but books are my weakness, lol.

Nice job on the challenge! And six day work weeks- boo to that! That’s no fun. 🙂

Starry Eyes and Sky in the Deep are two I’m really interested in, will probably end up getting both.

    Love Snoopy (obviously ha ha)!!

Aw, love that Snoopy photo. I’m still trying to go back and forth between backlist books and review books – and non-back list books but are just things I got at the library, etc. LOL

I was trying to alternate too and was doing a pretty decent job until I got request-happy again on Netgalley, lol. Hopefully I can still manage to squeeze in a backlist book or two while I’m reading my review books.

April and May are always ridiculous for the amount of new releases. I found I grabbed a few too many for those months too. lol I finished my April but now have so many May to get through. sigh. I did it to myself. I hope you love Sky in the Deep! I loved it so much!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Right? My May list is ridiculous. I don’t know what I was thinking, aside from that all of them sounded so good, lol.

I’m almost finished with Sky in the Deep. I’ve had a few mixed feelings along the way but overall have enjoyed it.

I’m about 40% into Sky in the Deep now and I loved the opening battle scene but am having mixed feelings about pretty much everything since then.
