Weekly Recap #29: Week of 11/26 – 12/2

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

I’m slowly but surely getting back on track with my reading and blogging after having been away.  I’m still a couple of days behind on my comments and blog hopping, but I’m hoping to be all caught up by this evening.  Next time I travel, I think I might just not schedule any posts and start fresh once I return home.  Live and learn, lol.  But anyway, if I haven’t stopped by your blog in a while, I hope to remedy that today.

This week I’m all about decking the halls for the holidays.  We started decorating yesterday but ended up going out shopping for new decorations instead because when we opened up our storage boxes, several of our older decorations had decided to just fall apart.  At first I was shocked, but then I had to remind myself that they’re probably at least 15-20 years old and some even older than that because they were donated to us by our families when we were first starting out.  So now that we’re restocked on decorations, we’re putting everything including the tree up today.  I’ve got my holiday tunes loaded on my phone so I’m ready to roll and fully immerse myself in the Christmas spirit.

I’ve also got holiday shopping on the brain since everyone keeps asking me what I want for Christmas.  In brainstorming a wish list for myself, I’ve come up with a post on gift ideas for bookworms and will be posting that this week, along with my usual slate of posts.

I started reading Renegades by Marissa Meyer this weekend and am enjoying it so far.  I also noticed when I went to log it on my Goodreads account that it is the 100th book I’ve read this year.  I’ve never read that many books in one year before, so that was pretty exciting to see!

Anyway, I think that’s it for me.   Have a great week, everyone!

Because we lived in a condo for so long, I really tried to limit the amount of holiday decorations we accumulated, but this year we went a little crazy and bought a ton of lights for outside our new house. I love buying Christmas decorations!

Looking forward to your Renegades review!

Your totally random it so funny… I stay behind on my blog lately with my daughters homeschool and running up and down the road with my son’s ROTC events. Ugh. I just try and keep up the best I can. I hope you enjoy The Wife Between Us. Have a great week. 🙂

Playing catch up can be tough when you’ve been away, can’t it? We’re hoping to put up our tree today. Most of the other household decorations are up. We have so many decorations for our tree–too many. I have a soft spot for the old ones. I look forward to reading your final thoughts on Renegades and Brightly Burning. I hope you have a great week, Suzanne!

We managed to get all of our decoration done today except for the tree. We put it up but the cat keeps acting weird around it, so we’re waiting a day to make sure he isn’t going to try to climb it, lol.

Congrats on 100 books, and have fun decorating. It’s fun to do with the holiday music playing in the background, definitely gets you in the mood for the season. And I hear you on the ornaments- we have some that we’ve had for a long time now and some have sentimental value. But it’s nice to get new ornaments too!

Depth of Lies has me curious just from that cover!

Thanks! Yeah, definitely have to have the Christmas music on to get me in the mood for decorating. I’ve been listening to an interesting mix of classic Christmas songs (Bing Crosby, Perry Como, etc.) and newer rock versions (Springsteen, The Pretenders, Bon Jovi, etc.). It made for a fun day 🙂

It’s kind of fun to get new Christmas decorations, but I hope you were able to save any that were special or sentimental. Congratulations on making 100 books! It’s amazing when you think about how many adults won’t even read 1 book this year.

Thankfully all of the ones with sentimental value are still intact. I would have been heartbroken otherwise.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought about that when I realized I was at 100. I know so many people who don’t read at all and would think I was weird for having read so much.

That’s too bad about your family ornaments. Each year I have my children pick an new ornament for the tree, and it’s great to look back at their choices from when they were children. Congrats on 100 books, that’s awesome. The Wife Between Us seems interesting, I’ll have to add it to my list. Have a wonderful week 🙂

Congratulations on your 100th book:). We’ve been decorating our house as well this weekend – it’s still not quite done, but we’re getting there. I hope you have a great week. Renegades looks intriguing.

We did everything but the tree today so I’m hoping to finish tomorrow. I was going to decorate the tree tonight but the cat keeps eyeing it strangely. I’m waiting to make sure he isn’t going to try to climb it before I fully decorate it, lol.

A couple of days behind… Ha ha. I think I’m still a couple of WEEKS behind… But you know. 😉 It’s tough when you travel and schedule all the posts!! Although I do like to post a few things when I know I’m not around I generally keep the higher intensity posts for when I’m ‘normal’.

We’ve also been doing all the decorations! It’s so much fun this year because my DD will be 4 in February, so she’s really into all the things. We’ve been blasting Christmas playlists and getting covered in glitter from the decorations and everything.

Congrats on 100 books! That’s amazing! It was going to be my goal this year but I’ve had such a meh reading year that I had to decrease it to 80 and I’m hoping I’ll manage to hit that. Who knows, maybe next year I’ll do better?

Can’t wait for your Renegades review!

    Have a wonderful week Suzanne!

Oh yeah, I know what you mean about comments 🙂 I don’t even need to travel, I just need to go about my normal (hectically busy) working week to find about 80 comments on a thursday xD I get your feels!

I haven’t started decking the halls for the holidays yet… Refer back to the hectic week 😀

Congrats on your 100th book! Did you set any challenge? Mine was 100 🙂 I think I’ve gone over, I just need to mark the rest as read…

The literary mafia, hahaha 😀 that was a good one…
