Weekly Recap #21: Week of 10/1-10/7

It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

This past week was one of those weeks where I felt like I was just constantly distracted and trying to go in about 10 different directions at the same time.  Upcoming work deadlines have had me bringing work home several nights this week and then trying to fit that in around my son’s soccer games and homework. Thankfully my work deadlines are fast approaching (10/16) and then that stress will be behind me.  Soccer has been going well. We just finished the regular season with a 6-1-1 record and will have our first playoff game in a week.  My son hasn’t scored anymore goals, but he is still having an outstanding season. I’m really proud of him, especially since he wasn’t even sure he wanted to keep playing this season.

Another big distraction has been starting to plan my November trip to NYC.  Since I’ve already done most of the obvious touristy things on previous trips, I’ve been doing a lot of research trying to come up with some new things to do and places to go.  We’re thinking of touring Harlem this time if we can find a tour that we like the sound of.

Netflix was calling my name a lot this week as well. I had a few of those evenings where I just needed something mindless to do so I vegged out and binge watched the rest of Shameless, season 3 of Fuller House, and then watched the Jane Fonda/Robert Redford movie Our Souls at Night.  Man, those two still have the best onscreen chemistry!

Needless to say, I got a little behind on my blog commenting.  I meant to get all caught up today but then spent most of the day reading and napping instead, haha.  I hope to be caught up before the end of the day tomorrow though.  I also have a few reviews that I need to get written because while I was hibernating and reading, I finished Crooked Kingdom as well as the cozy mystery Murder Over Mochas.  I also started Emery Lord’s The Names They Gave Us and Hillary’s new book.  I think Hillary’s book is going to take me a while to get through, just because of all of the emotions that it stirs up, but so far, I’m finding it to be an interesting read.  Very raw and honest.

Anyway, I think that’s it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Your week does sound super busy!! But NYC should be fun! I LOVE Shameless and Fuller House! I can’t wait for the new episodes of both to be released! I hope you liked Crooked Kingdom – Bardugo is my favorite! I hope you have a great week 😀

Yes, I can’t wait for NYC. It’s my favorite place to visit. I just finished Crooked Kingdom over the weekend and really loved it, although I’m bummed that the series is over.

Thanks! I stayed up late last night to finish The Names They Gave us and ended up really loving it. Emery Lord is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me.

I hope you find some great things to do in NYC! There’s so much to do there, it’d be hard to run out of ideas! Have you been to the September 11 Memorial and Museum? Such a powerful place.

I think the last time I visited, the museum was still being built so I’ll definitely have to check that out. I’d also like to visit Harlem since I’ve never been there before.

How exciting that your son’s team made it to the playoffs! I hope they do well. I really liked The Names They Gave Us. I cannot wait until you are done, so I can ask you what you thought about the ending.

Thanks! I stayed up very late last night to finish The Name They Gave Us. I loved everything about the book except for that ending, which I found incredibly frustrating.

Murder Over Mochas. I love that title. Hang in there 10/16 is coming!! The trip to NYC sounds awesome. Be sure to take in a play, and visit the Sept. 11 Museum.

Thanks! Yeah, definitely hope to take in a play or show and get to the 9/11 Museum. My husband also wants to tour Harlem, so that should be pretty cool as well.

Ooh sorry about all the work deadlines. I’m glad that’s ending soon!! I feel like I’ve been crazy busy lately too – I really need to get back to blogging ahead as much as I can; that would help save some time. LOL

I hope you find some fun things to do in NYC. I’ve been a few times but always for a particular reason usually like BEA, etc. so I haven’t actually done a lot of the tourist things. I have done some fun, random things though.

Thanks, yes I’ll be so glad once 10/16 comes and goes and life settles back down for me. Shouldn’t be too far to find some great things to do in NYC. There are endless possibilities. I may try another food tour – I had so much fun and so much incredible food the last time I did on of those there.

I really loved Crooked Kingdom. It was pretty much everything I could have wanted for the conclusion of the series. Look forward to checking out your Stacking the Shelves post 🙂

I’ve been curious about Hillary’s book as well as 27 Hours. I’m reading Six of crows now (kinda slowly) so Crooked Kingdom probably won’t be too far behind. 🙂

Glad your son’s soccer team is doing so well! Good luck in the playoffs.

That bookworm graphic cracked me up.

I’m slowly working my way through Hillary’s book. I was so invested in her campaign that it’s an emotional read for me so I have to set it down a lot. I really enjoyed Crooked Kingdom — it moved along a lot faster for me than Six of Crows did.

I’ve been slowly making my way through Hillary’s book, and have seriously cried so much for different reasons. I wish I lived in an alternate timeline. 🙁 Hope you have less distractions soon and have a great week.

Sometimes you just need to have a Netflix veg, especially on those busy weeks as yours sounds to have been. Trip planning is so much fun (just me?), I hope you’re able to settle on some plans soon.

I don’t know anything about The Immortalists, but the cover is amazing!! A happy week to you!

Wow, what a crazy week you had! I hope that work is so much better soon and that you manage to relax a little this weekend!

I’m still skiing far behind on my blog but I feel like I’m taking more steps forward at this point so I’m getting there! Everyone seems to be manic at this time of the year!

Good luck with the deadlines and I’m off to read I our CK review now!
