Weekly Recap #14: Week of 8/13 – 8/19

Hey everyone!  It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

So all of that insomnia I talked about last week did have one good thing come out of it…I actually managed to finish the final 7 books for my Summer TBR Wipeout Challenge!  Not the ideal way to complete a challenge, but I’ll take it, haha! I actually put a visible dent in the pile of books stacked up in my office, so I’m pretty stoked about getting so many older titles off my TBR.  I still have plenty more to get through though so if anyone knows of any good fall reading challenges coming up, let me know!  For now though, it’s back to the ARCS I have coming up for review and also getting caught up on my blog comments, which I had slacked on a bit while trying to complete my challenge.

Off the blog it was a pretty quiet week, although it will probably be the last quiet one for a while.  We’re getting geared up for back-to-school and for my son’s fall soccer season so things will definitely start to pick up again.  I have one more week of work and then I’m on vacation (YAY!)  I decided not to go anywhere so I’m hoping for good weather here so that I can at least enjoy a few relaxing moments out on my deck reading.

Oh well, that’s enough from me.  Have a great week, everyone!

A stay-cation is sometimes the best thing. I always go on vacations where I am doing something (I like that), but sometimes you just need to kick back and relax. Enjoy your time off. I liked The Girl with the Red Balloon, but am really curious to how the story will tie into the companions, since Locke said they would be stand-alones and there is a bunch of stuff I still need to know about the balloon makers. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

That’s good you put a dent in your TBR pile. I need to do the same. I can’t believe September is just around the corner and the kids will be back to school soon. Happy reading!

Yay for finishing! There probably are some good fall reading challenges but I’m drawing a blank, I know I usually try to do something Halloween- related in October. A few years ago there were a ton of October readathons/ events but they seem to have dwindled, but I think there’s still a few.

The Girl With The Red Balloon looks kind of interesting, and I LOVED Dark Matter. Hope you do too.

I’ll have to keep on the lookout in October then. A Halloween challenge sounds fun. I keep hearing amazing things about Dark Matter so I can’t wait to read it.

Thank you! Wasn’t This Savage Song amazing? I can’t wait until a copy of Our Dark Duet becomes available at the library. I hope you have a great week too!

I haven’t started it yet. Got distracted by The Girl with the Red Balloon, but I hope to start it tomorrow night. I’ve heard a few mixed reviews so I’m really hoping I enjoy it.

The Girl in the Red Balloon is utterly utterly intriguing — Berlin, magic and balloons? I hope the author manages to pull these different elements together!

I’m about halfway through The Girl with the Red Balloon right now and am really enjoying it. The author has come up with a very original storyline.

Insomnia has to be good for something, right? Still hope you manage to sleep better this week, though. And I know what you mean about focusing on one aspect of your blog (or challenge) and then falling behind on everything else. Sometimes it feels impossible to keep up with everything!

Sometimes finding that balance is definitely a challenge. I took a day and got caught up on all of my comments so I feel like I can move forward with a clean slate now.

Staycations can be nice and despite insomnia, I am glad you met your challenge. Dark Matter was a good one. I am curious about some of your arrivals and look forward to your thoughts on them.

I’m back and catching up once again! I’m sorry I’m so far behind on your blog but I’m reading like mad at the moment! 🙂

Well… Yay for reading so much! I’m sorry about the insomnia though. That really sucks.

I hope you enjoyed/are enjoying vacation!!! Still catching up on your blog so I’ll see you on the other posts!
