Weekly Recap #9: Week of 7/9 – 7/15

Hey everyone!  It’s time for another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

It has actually been a pretty quiet week for me.  The summer heat has arrived and with temperatures hovering near 100 and the humidity making it feel well above that, I’ve spent way more time inside than I would have liked.  One of these days I really want to have a swimming pool put in to make days like these more tolerable.  A girl can dream, right?

I’ve also been one of those moods lately where I want to watch movies, but not new or recent releases.  This week I watched Sister Act, The Breakfast Club, Dead Poet’s Society, The Empire Strikes Back, and the animated Beauty and the Beast.  Those just made me hungry for more older movies so I have E.T., The Goonies, and Raiders of the Lost Ark on deck for the upcoming week. Still plan to get lots of reading done though!

On the blog, I’ve had a good week as well. I posted the last of my July publication date ARC reviews so I’m keeping up with those nicely.  I also published another discussion post (finally!), so I’m excited about that since doing more discussion posts was probably my biggest blogging goal for this year. I also knocked 1,200 pages from my TBR this week (It was only 2 books, but they were huge, okay?  Haha!) I’m not doing great on my Summer TBR Challenge though – so far I’m only on my second of 12 books but hopefully I’ll turn that around soon.

On the agenda for today is lots of blog hopping and commenting since I’ve been kind of lax about that the past couple of days while trying to finish up Strange the Dreamer.  Incredible book, by the way. One of those that’s so amazing, it’s almost hard to put it into words for a review.

Well, that’s pretty much it for me.  Have a great week, everyone!

Ooh I liked One of Us Is Lying. It has a few issues but on balance I thought it was good- hope you like it! And illuminae’s pretty fun. 🙂

Wow that’s hot! I don’t do well with 100’s lol. I love summer but that’s a bit much.

I love all of those old movies. Especially Breakfast Club and Empire strikes Back. Good stuff! I always have a soft spot for gremlins too, although I’m not sure how it would hold up? Haven’t seen it in ages…

I’m getting ready to start Illuminae next so I’m pretty stoked. Ooh, I’ve been wondering about Gremlins too. I’d like to watch that with my son and see what he thinks of it because it was a favorite of mine when it first came out.

I’m glad you enjoyed Strange the Dreamer so much. I want to read that one soon. Oh gosh, I don’t know how I could survive summer without a pool. I get hot way too easy so I’d be inside all the time.

It’s usually not too bad here in the summer, but for a couple of weeks, it does get pretty brutal. I’d love a pool though, both for the cool factor and for the exercise factor. I’d rather swim than do pretty much any other form of exercise, haha.

LOL – on your random comic. I have Anna Kendrick waiting on my tbr shelf. She is a hoot 😉 Happy reading.

I’m reading the Anna Kendrick book now. It’s cute but I actually wish I had gotten the audio instead. I’d rather hear her tell her stories than just read them myself. Still a good read so far, and a quick one as well. Hope you have a great week!

Loved the cartoon. I giggled. 🙂 I hope you enjoy One of Us Is Lying. I meant to buy that one but so far have not. I’ve heard mixed things about it. But I’m still looking forward to it.

Thanks! Yeah, I’ve heard mixed feelings too so I ended up just checking it out at the library. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it since it was one of my most anticipated books. Hope you have a great week!

I love all the books you have here! I still need to read Illuminae and am really wanting to read One of Us is Lying. I have the Blackbird Season to read too! I can’t wait for that 🙂 I hope you will enjoy your reads this week!

I just started Illuminae today and it’s pretty good. I like the unusual format. I hope we both enjoy The Blackbird Season. It sounds so good!

Somehow my comment must have got accidentally deleted… I mentioned about being excited for all the titles you have here. I still need to read Illuminae and One of Us is Lying too. I also have The Blackbird Season to read. And I’m glad you had a great week and enjoy your read this week!

Well, here the very start of my catch up attempt… Hopefully I’ll be able to get through some more of what I missed on your blog tomorrow!

You have been a reading demon lately! Well done on keeping up with those ARCs! Also those movies! Ahhh, I love them! You’re giving me nostalgia AND making me want to watch them. 🙈

I hope the weather gives you some relief soon and I look forward to being a little more caught up this week… You know, only a few days behind rather than a few weeks!

Haha, I have been a reading demon. That Summer TBR cleanout challenge has really motivated me to start moving through some books I’ve been sitting on for way too long. Good luck catching up with everything you’ve missed in the blogosphere!
