Top 10 Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start But Haven’t Yet

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top 10 Series I’ve Been Meaning to Read But Haven’t Yet.  I don’t know about you guys but this week’s topic hits home for me.  Series are my biggest weakness when it comes to reading.  I love, love, love reading them, but OMG, it just takes me so long to actually make it through a series.  While the list below represents series that I’m dying to start reading, I have a list probably twice as long of series that I’ve started but haven’t finished yet.  I think when I look for reading challenges next year, I’m seriously going to look for one that focuses on series to give me the push I need to wrap up some of the ones I’ve been working on for ages. But anyway, below are the series I’m hoping to get to as I finally finish up some of the ones I’m currently reading.

I think either that one or Monsters of Verity are going to be the first ones from this list that I’m going to tackle once I finish A Conjuring of Light.

I really enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn series, so I highly recommend that! The Monsters of Verity duology is on my TBR – everyone seems to love it!

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn series. I’m really looking forward to getting to that one. I hope to get to Monsters of Verity soon too because, like you, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say they haven’t loved that series.

Ooooh, fantastic list! The Conqueror’s Saga and The Illuminae Files are both wonderful, and I just started The Raven Cycle and am loving it. I meant to add the Nevernight Chronicles to my list as well, but I forgot – whoops.

I’ve heard so many great things about The Illuminae Files. I think that’s going to be the one I tackle first from my list, after I finish the Shades of Magic series. I’m getting ready to start the last book of that one.

I’m loving the Illuminae books right now, especially Gemina which I thought was awesome! I hope you read ’em soon and share your thoughts!

Been curious about Marie Lu’s stuff too.

I’m so glad to hear that you’re enjoying the Illuminae books. I’m pretty sure I’m going to tackle that series as soon as I finish the Shades of Magic series. Only one more book to go on that one.

I’m so very jealous of the wonderful series you have to look forward to! I also have Monsters of Verity to read yet, I’ve owned the first one for awhile, just haven’t quite gotten there (it made my list this week, too). The Illuminae Files are amazing. I just loved the format. I also really loved The Wrath and the Dawn duology & the first book of the Conqueror’s Saga. I just read Ember in the Ashes last week & it was so hard to put down! This list is great!

I’m the same way with the first Monsters of Verity book. I bought it on sale ages ago but just haven’t managed to squeeze it in yet. I think it and Illuminae are going to be the first two series I tackle as soon as I wrap up the Shades of Magic series.

Oh my goodness! I either want to read or have read almost every series on this list. And what isn’t on my TBR I’m promptly adding, ok! 😂

Ember series? Awesome so far, I can’t wait to see where it goes next. The Wrath and the Dawn? You saw my reviews and know I loved it and I hope you get as much enjoyment as I did out of it!

I’m desperate to read Illuminae, Nevernight and pretty much any Schwab book 😂

I’ve just started The Grisha which was one I’ve been meaning to read FOREVER. Also on my list would have been Falling Kingdoms and The Falconer.

I hope you get to read these soon and I can’t wait to see what you make of all of them when you do!

    Great list!

    P. S. I’ve just come across a problem on your mobile site when I want to post a longish comment…. I can’t see the submit button! I wonder if it’s just me if if it’s a bug?

Oh gosh, I can’t believe I forgot to put Falling Kingdoms and The Falconer on my list. Those are two I really want to read as well. I think I’m going to tackle Illuminae first from my list, right after I finish the Shades of Magic series. I just need to read the last book in that one.

Thanks for letting me know about the issue with the comments. I’m waiting to hear back from my theme’s developer but I’m hoping they can easily troubleshoot it for me.

Okay… so our list is eerily similar! The first five were on my list, too!! But I’ve read the last five – odd how that worked out. I actually just finished the Wrath and the Dawn duology this weekend and it’s pretty much what everyone says it is. Amazing! Have a great rest of the week and I hope you read something great – preferably from this list.

That’s wild how close our lists are! I’m so glad to hear that your enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn. I keep hearing great things about all of these series so hopefully we’re both in for some excellent reads. 🙂

Oh, I’m with you on 1, 2, and 9. I want to read all of those. I’ve read Illuminae and Gemina which I LOVE. There are so many series I really need to finally start. I’m starting to finish up a few right now though, like The Raven Cycle. I’m finally reading The Raven King right now.

I’m pretty sure Illuminae is the first one from this list I’m going to read since I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. I just need to finish up Shades of Magic first.

Majority of the stuff on your list is the same with mine, the others are books I have read and absolutely loved! Well, except for The Crown’s Game. It was just off for me.

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

I keep hearing mixed reviews of The Crown’s Game, which is the main reason why I haven’t tackled that one yet. I think Illuminae is the series I’m going to read first from this list, just as soon as I finish the Shades of Magic series. I’m starting the last book for that this week.

I loved The Raven Cycle books, they’re so good. I enjoyed This Savage Song and The Crown’s Game as well but haven’t read the second book in each of their respective duologies. I didn’t know that Kingdom on Fire was the name for that series, but I have the first book on my TBR. I’d also like to read The Wrath and The Dawn, The Young Elites, An Ember In The Ashes and And I Darken, so most of the books on your list!

I’ve read the first book in the Young Elites, but I haven’t got around to reading the rest of it yet. Raven Cycle made it to my list this week and I just began the first book!

I’m so glad to hear The Illuminae Files are good. I have a couple of series that I need to finish up first and then that’s going to be the next one I start.
