Weekly Recap # 2: Week of 5/21-5/27

Hey everyone!  I’m back with another weekly recap post of all things happening on and off the blog. This week I’ll be linking to the Sunday Post, which is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and to Stacking the Shelves, which is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all who are celebrating and a huge thanks to all who serve in our military and keep us safe everyday.

Mother Nature has not been very cooperative this week so that championship soccer game my son was supposed to be in last week?  Yeah, still hasn’t happened yet. It was rescheduled for Wednesday and then Thursday, but each time, the weather had other plans.  We’re now tentatively rescheduled for this Tuesday though so hopefully we’ll have an exciting finish to the season.

I got a fair amount of reading done this week but also spent a lot of time binge watching some of my favorite TV shows, mainly because my DVR was so full I didn’t have room to record anything else, haha.  I got caught up on Empire, Pretty Little Liars, The 100, and The Big Bang Theory.  I also finished binge watching season 3 of Grace and Frankie and am working on season 2 of Shameless.  Shameless is a great show to watch while I’m on the treadmill. It’s so outrageous and so funny that I stay distracted and don’t even realize that I’ve walked for 45 minutes.

My holiday weekend plans had originally been to lounge outside most of the weekend since we just installed a new pergola and all new patio furniture, but again, Mother Nature can’t seem to decide what she wants to do.  One minute it’s sunny and gorgeous, the next it’s gray and looks like it’s about to pour.  Hopefully she’ll sort herself out soon because I really want to get out there and enjoy some sunshine.  I’m so ready for summer!

I had a pretty productive week on the blog as well.  I got several of my backlogged ARCs read so I’ll be writing reviews for those this week in order to meet my deadlines.  I’ve also been working to post a little more often this year (last year I usually only did 3 posts a week).  I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those folks who can post everyday, but I feel like I can pretty comfortably do 4, sometimes 5, posts a week now so I’m pretty excited about that.  I’ve also been trying to do more with discussion posts as well.  I’m always bashful about doing those for some reason, so I was happy that I pushed past that shyness and got a discussion post up as well this week.

Oh sorry about the weather. Glad to hear you had a productive week though. Don’t push yourself to post every day. I did do it some weeks but then quit when I started feeling pressured. Anyway, It Ends With Us is awesome. I hope you love it. 😁👍🏻

Enjoy your books and have a wonderful week.

It’s overcast today. Snuck n on me. I had plane to lie around the pool and do some reading and dozing. I just heard a rumble of thunder in the distance, dang it! Enjoy those fabulous new reads and crossing my fingers the weather sorts itself out for all of us:)

Yes, we are definitely in a weather pattern that isn’t conducive to much outdoor activity. We got 5 minutes into that soccer game last night and the weather got us again. Here’s hoping for some better weather for the rest of the week 🙂

Our weather has been a bit back and forth as well. I hope you can get outside soon and enjoy the nice weather! Yay for reading so much – and for keeping up with blogging. That’s awesome. 🙂 I love discussion posts, and I think it’s great you’re trying to do more!

Thanks, it can be a challenge to come up with the ideas but I really do feel more satisfied with my blog when I can add more original content to it. 🙂

Yay for both of us with the good reading week and catching up on ARCs 🙂 isn’t that a great feeling.
I have read a lot of great reviews about The Inexplicable Logic Of My Life. So you should enjoy that one 🙂

It really does feel great to get so much reading done. Now I just need to write all of the reviews, haha 🙂

Right? It’s finally warm and sunny here this weekend so I’m grabbing my book and heading outside to enjoy it in just a few minutes. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Six of Crows. I’m reading The Upside of Unrequited now and then Six of Crows is next. Can’t wait!

Yay for discussion posts! I like doing those too, but sometimes I have trouble coming up with ideas! It comes and goes I guess. Hope your weather straightens out and you get to spend some quality time outdoors- it’s been pretty nice here so far (knocks on wood).

I thought The 100 finale was pretty intense. And I need to get Six of Crows one of these days…

    Have a great long weekend!

Same here. It’s like almost every topic I think to do has already been done a million times or else once I start writing, what seemed like a good idea suddenly seems mediocre. Oh well, hopefully the more I do it, the less I’ll have those feelings.

The weather has been crazy here too, it rained most of May. It’s pouring today. On posting, it depends, sometimes I will go weeks without posting and sometimes I’m blogging a few times per week. I posted just twice this past March, and now for May I’ve posted a few times every week. It depends on my mood plus life just gets too busy sometimes. I find the discussion posts are great for creating a buzz at the blog, more people stop by and chat then I usually get to meet new bloggers that way too.
The Upside of Unrequited looks good, happy reading and have a good week.

Yeah, it has definitely been challenging to come up with a consistent blogging schedule for all of those reasons. I feel like I’m getting better at it so hopefully I can do it more consistently now. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

That’s too bad about the weather, I’m sure your son and his team are getting anxious to play and hopefully the weather will cooperate 🙂 Shameless is one of my favorite shows, and I usually like to watch the entire season when it’s available instead of watching it weekly on TV. Discussion post are always wonderful to read, there is a lot of interesting topics out there. I don’t like to feel overwhelmed or pressured, so I will never be able to post daily on my blog…lol

Enjoy your new reads this week 🙂

I’m unsure how you managed to both binge watch TV AND catch up on books. Ha ha. For me it’s either one or the other and this week it has been TV!!!! Eep.

Well done on upping the number of posts you are doing per week. That’s cool! I’m not going to increase my posts but I AM trying to spend more time on the blog – catching up my comments and visiting other blogs. I’m perpetually behind in that respect!

I see you’re reading 6oC!!! I can’t wait to see how that goes for you.

Your totally random pic is hilarious. 🙂 Love it!

Ssshhhh, don’t tell anyone but I read a lot while I’m at work so that I’m free to binge my TV shows when I get home, haha.

Thanks! I’ll definitely never have a schedule that allows me to post everyday, but I am excited to be doing more than just the 2 or 3 I was doing back at the beginning of my blogging adventure.
