Top 10 Literary Characters I Would Want to Have in my Squad

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is a FREEBIE so I decided to do a top ten list that I think about every time I come across a cool character while I’m reading:  If I were to choose 10 literary characters to be my best friends, who would I choose?

What qualities do I look for in best friends anyway?  I’d say these qualities are probably at the top of my list:  loyalty, intelligence – can be book smart or street smart, someone who has a sense of humor and a sense of adventure, and who is passionate about causes that are important to them, and who can also be a bit on the sassy side and give me a kick in the pants if I need it.   In my mind, the characters I’ve selected embody most – if not all – of those qualities and I’d be thrilled for any of them to be a member of my squad.

This sounds like such a kickass squad! I would love Hermione on my squad as well <3 And things would never get boring with Lila Bard 🙂 Elizabeth Bennett would definitely be a fun and sassy friend. And Arya and Reagan! It would already be tons of fun just watching all these characters interact 😉

I almost forgot about Reagan too until I started thinking about how I like to have friends who bring me out of my comfort zone sometimes, which made me think of everything she did for Cath in that book 🙂

Ah, what a fun idea! Totally agree with you on Hermione and Arya – they’d be the perfect combo, Hermione with the book smarts and Arya is just so kick-ass! Great list!

Love this!! I’d definitely want Delilah and Jo March in my corner, but I’d have to add Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles!

Oh, I’m so glad to hear you say that. Scarlet is in my TBR pile for the Beat the Backlist challenge so I’ll be reading it very soon 🙂

So I’m just imagining if we actually got all of these characters together in one room… I think it’d be an unbelievably incredible time. This is a wonderful list! Jo March, Hermione, Delilah Bard, and Elizabeth Bennett are a few that I would absolutely love to be friends with, as well. Great list. 🙂

Right? As soon as I made the list, I just kept thinking about how cool it would be to see them all interact together. Like the most epic crossover ever!

    • Suzanne
      Suzanne says:

Haha! Yes, Hermione was actually the first name that came to mind, closely followed by Delilah Bard. Friends that I could get into trouble with but who would also be smart enough to get us out of it 🙂

  5. Greg
    Greg says:

Reagan from Fangirl- I loved her character! I still laugh when I think of her and cath in the cafeteria poking fun at other students- which sounds mean but in the context it was kinda understandable. Anyway… Arya Stark, another great choice! Elizabeth Bennet is a fun choice too. 🙂

      Suzanne says:

Yay for another Reagan fan! I really loved everything about her, including her snarky comments about other students. I think she would be great to get me out of my comfort zone, kind of like she did for Cath.

I love that you thought of Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. Love that play. I also agree with Hermione from HP. I’d also choose Luna from those books because I love her.
